HouseKit collects no data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your songs and settings stay on your iPad.
Effective 23 October 2026 · applies to HouseKit for iPad, version 1.0 and later
Nothing. HouseKit has no servers of its own, so it doesn't send your songs, recordings, requests, usage or device details to us or to anyone else. It doesn't use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it doesn't share data with data brokers.
HouseKit saves what you make so it's there next time. All of it is stored on your iPad, inside HouseKit:
Like other apps' files, these can be included in your iPad's own iCloud or computer backups, which Apple's terms cover. Deleting HouseKit deletes everything it stored, so save any exports you want to keep first.
HouseKit asks for permission before using any of these, and you can turn each one off any time in Settings › HouseKit.
| Feature | What it uses | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Voice requests (hold the mic) | Microphone and Apple speech recognition | HouseKit listens only while you hold the mic button and keeps no recordings. Apple turns your words into text: on the iPad where your model supports it, otherwise through Apple's servers under Apple's Privacy Policy. |
| Understanding requests | HouseKit's built-in rules; Apple's on-device model on iPads with Apple Intelligence | The text of your request is processed on your iPad. It isn't sent anywhere. |
| Sounds Like › Analyze a recording | An audio file you choose | HouseKit reads the file on your iPad to measure its tempo and feel. It doesn't copy, keep or upload the file. Only the result (tempo, time, feel) is used. |
| Foot pedals | Bluetooth | Used to connect MIDI foot controllers and page turners. Only their button presses are read. |
| Export | Files and the share sheet | The WAV goes only where you send it. |
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPad's settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. When you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback and screenshots you send, along with the email address you joined with. We use these only to fix problems in HouseKit.
Because HouseKit collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.
If HouseKit ever starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and its effective date before that version is released.
